PE pipes are increasingly used in water supply projects. PE pipes have several advantages over other types of pipes. With development of PE resin technology and introduction of the third generation of PE pipes (PE100), this type of pipes are increasingly used in infrastructure water supply projects in distribution networks and transmission pipelines.
In most applications, PE pipes provide an expected operating lifetime of over 100 years with excelling performance without any problem. PE pipes are highly resistant to corrosion and are easily transported and installed due to lightweight.
Flexible PE pipes are resistant to fatigue and withstand water hammer up to 50% and 100% more than the design stress with a FOS of 1.25 and 1.6, respectively. The inner surface of PE pipes is completely smooth with a roughness of 150-155 based on Hazen-Williams coefficient. This coefficient remains constant over years of operation, therefore, flow rate in the pipe does not change.
Water supply PE pipes and fittings are produced by P.E.S with a diameter of 20 to 2500 mm and pressure classes of 2.5 to 50 bar according to the national standard INSO 14427 and international standards ISO 4427 and EN 12201.
