PE pipes are widely used in oil, gas and petrochemical industries. Given specifications of natural gas, the use of PE pipes in gas distribution networks is among first application of this type of pipes in oil, gas and petrochemical industries. PE is considered a novel revolution in urban gas supply industry in recent decades. PE pipes were used for gas supply in developed countries in early 1960 in a small scale indicating the quality and reliability of PE pipes and fittings. The use of PE pipes has been increased due to advances in the synthesis of PE materials and advantages of PE pipes. According to accredited global statistics, 90% of European and American countries use of PE pipes in gas supply industry. PE pipelines can be used for transferring natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), propane and domestic gas supply.
Lack of leakage, durable and high strength fittings, long lifetime (up to 50 years), ease of installation, transport, low-cost maintenance, the use of best self-coloring materials, the use of fire-resistant materials, high chemical and physical resistance, resistance to internal and external ambient pressures, resistance to corrosive materials and acidic and basic fluids are among advantages of PE pipes.
As one of the largest producers of PE pipes in the Middle East, P.E.S started to produce high-quality 25 to 225 mm gas pipes for distribution network according to the National Iranian Gas Company standard IGS PL-014-1 since 2007.
It is noteworthy that PE gas pipes up to a diameter of 630 mm are produced at customer and National Iranian Gas Company request in accordance with EN1555, ISO 4437 and ISIRI 11233.
